We had yet another exciting visit at the Smartan House! On the 24th of January 2025, the Smartan House had the honor of hosting Mrs. Olanrewaju Oniyitan, the Founder and Executive Director of SEED Foundation.”
The event started with so much energy from both the Smartans and the guest. Mrs. Oniyitan, known for her energetic personality, brought so much Energy that the Smartans happily matched.
Let’s take a moment to talk about this extraordinary woman. Mrs. Olanrewaju Oniyitan is a consultant, entrepreneur, author, speaker, advocate, and a dedicated mother with over 20 years of experience driving the creation of wealth, jobs, incomes, and sustainable economic growth. She is the founder and leader of W-Holistic Business Solutions, a firm committed to providing innovative and practical solutions for businesses. Mrs. Oniyitan’s career began at KPMG Professional Services, where she gained valuable experience in Business Advisory and Risk Management. She currently serves on the board of Jessefield Microfinance Bank and champions education as the foundation for lasting change.
During the event, Mrs. Oniyitan made a powerful statement: “The view of the future seems unclear because there is no opportunity for imagination.” She went on to explain, “The four walls of a school might not be the medium where education will come from.” Education, she emphasized, is a lifelong experience, and we get educated daily through events and experiences.
Mrs. Oniyitan shared a heartfelt story about her experience with children from Makoko, Lagos. She had planned to take them out for Children’s Day and decided on a trip to the cinema. However, upon reaching the Third Mainland Bridge,a location not far from their homes, the children were astonished. Many of them, despite being children of fishermen who work under the bridge, had never been on it. This revelation highlights a larger issue: many children are unfamiliar with their own city, let alone their country.
Her passion for bridging this gap and providing children with enriching educational experiences is what drives her work with SEED Foundation. It serves as a platform for her to create meaningful opportunities for children to understand what education truly entails.
The visit reinforced the values and goals of the Smartan House: taking children from underserved communities and low-fee schools and giving them experiences they’ve only imagined, while teaching principles and values that can impact the world. We couldn’t agree more that children need to be educated, but on the right path.
